The Gaming Giant Recruits Apex Legends Producer to Rescue Troubled Action Game Project Ethos

The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Management Change Comes After Mixed Reception

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing unveiling last fall.

Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the need for a distinct direction.

The president stated that the team is now reimagining the project with a renewed vision, aiming to address gamer demands.

Trend of Strategic Recruitment

The news follows a comparable action taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Below is the complete message from the president's memo:

Dear Team—

I understand you all just finished your gathering - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative creators we have had the chance to work with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to continue.”

Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.

The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It confirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the requirement for a more distinct brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the feedback to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized goal - one that’s positioned to fulfill its potential to our players.

The trust in Project ETHOS grows every day. To further the remarkable progress you’ve made, I’m excited to welcome the new hire as the new Lead of the team. Following several months of talks, he comes aboard us on the specified date.

Ben’s management and experience in the competitive gaming field is extensive, having devoted the past decade and a half creating and leading some of the most well-known titles in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, Apex Legends.

Please join me in receiving him soon. We are all looking forward to keep observing the progress of Project ETHOS in the time to come.

David
